SACRAMENTO, CA – State Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) today presented Blues Café and Blue Floral, located in Patterson, with the 12th Senate District’s Small Business of the Year award during a ceremony in Sacramento.
“Blues is that quintessential small business in a small town that everyone knows and frequents because they are such an excellent representation of the community,” said Senator Cannella. “I was proud to present owner Rick Barron with the Small Business of the Year award to recognize just how important his businesses are to Patterson.”
Rick Barron, and his wife Leticia Lopez, own and operate the Blues Café, which is connected to their other business Blue Floral in Patterson California. Together, with the occasional help from their son Montaña, they have spent endless hours behind the counter over the last 25 years creating a successful business that is really community-oriented.
“I am proud to accept this award on behalf of our business, and the community of Patterson that we call home,” said Barron. “It was an exciting day in Sacramento, and I want to thank Senator Cannella for the honor, but I look forward to getting back to Leti and our business.”
Co-sponsored by a coalition of small-business organizations, California Small Business Day provides legislators and advocacy organizations a unique opportunity to honor the important role small businesses play in communities across California.
There are approximately 3.7 million small businesses in California, representing 99% of the state’s employers and 52% of California’s private-sector employment with nearly 7 million employees. Since the award’s establishment in 2000, legislators have recognized small businesses in their districts for their contributions to the local economy and for their community and charitable service.
