SACRAMENTO – Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) honored Erica Ayala from Patterson as the 12th Senate District Woman of the Year on the Senate Floor today.
“It’s always a pleasure to have the opportunity to recognize a stand-out individual in our community,” said Cannella. “Erica has selflessly dedicated her time to our community, specifically to empower young women. I wish her the best on her continued efforts to make Stanislaus a better place to live.”
Erica was born and raised in the Central Valley, the heart of California. She has earned a double Bachelor of the Arts degree in Communication and Gender Studies from the California State University, Stanislaus and a Masters of Arts in Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of California, where she penned her thesis, Invest and Empower Young Women of Today.
She is passionate about education access for all, youth development, and working with marginalized communities. She works as a Project Manager in Juvenile Dependency, advocating for Foster Youth’s Education Rights and Success in San Joaquin County. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Invest in Me, a non-profit organization focused on young women’s self-empowerment, leadership, and civic engagement on the Westside of Stanislaus County.
“I really appreciate the recognition from Senator Cannella for something that is a passion for me,” said Ayala. “I am excited to continue my work toward engaging and developing new leaders in Stanislaus County.”
