State Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) today announced he has selected Merced resident Dr. Susan Walsh as the 12th Senate District’s Woman of the Year for her commitment to the community.
“Dr. Susan Walsh exemplifies what we should all strive for and is truly a pillar of the community. She has devoted herself to the students of Merced for nearly 3 decades and has an exemplary record of volunteer service,” said Sen. Cannella. “I was proud to recognize her as the 12th State Senate District Woman of the Year for 2013.”
Walsh is a board member of the Merced City School District and has served as the director of the Learning Resources Center at Merced College for over 28 years. She has been named the Merced Chamber Educator of the Year, Merced Chamber Business Woman of the Year, and the Working Woman of the Year by the California Business and Professional Women's Merced Club. She has also been involved with many service and community groups including the Soroptimist International of Merced, the League of Women Voters, the Merced County Arts Council and the United Methodist Church.
