State Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) has been awarded the United Contractors (UCON) Legislator of the Year Award. The “We Dig California” award recognizes public officials who demonstrate leadership and courage in advancing the interests of the construction industry.
“As a civil engineer, I am extremely honored to receive UCON’s legislator of the year award,” said Cannella. “We have much to do to rebuild our state’s infrastructure and United Contractors are integral to the future of California.”
UCON CEO Mark Breslin said Cannella was nominated and selected by UCON for his “…hard work, dedication and bipartisan efforts to protect California’s economy, the taxpayers, the quality of our public infrastructure systems and the future of our industry.”
UCON represents union-affiliated contractor businesses and associate firms throughout the Western United States and represents the next generation in construction industry leadership. Members include heavy civil engineering companies who perform critical infrastructure work, including grading, paving, utility, bridge, power, water, transit rail, airport and more. UCON members perform more than $5 billion in contracts each year and employ more than 25,000 individuals in the industry.
