Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) today announced he has selected Susan Peters, a third-grade teacher at La Rosa Elementary School in Ceres, as the 12th Senate District’s Teacher of the Year for her commitment and dedication to her students.

“For 32 years, Susan has taught in the Ceres Unified School District, instilling generations of students with a love of learning; giving them the tools – and confidence – needed to succeed,” said Sen. Cannella. “I am honored to recognize her as the 12th State Senate District Teacher of the Year for 2014.”

After graduating from CSU Stanislaus, Peters was hired at Don Pedro Elementary in Ceres where she taught for 24 years. Later, she transferred to La Rosa Elementary School. Teaching mostly third-graders throughout her long career, Peters has also served on the science committee, Mentor and GATE committees, and given her time coordinating talent shows and school performances. Additionally, she also teaches summer school, after school enrichment programs and is involved with student intervention programs.

Senator Cannella personally recognized Peters today at La Rosa Elementary School.
